Oil on canvas, 20" x 20"
March 2010
Jazz is my granddaughter, daughter of Rebecca and Nick. She is a very clever girl; her speciality is Maths, although she is bright in all other subjects too, except perhaps Sports, despite being keen. She has recently won a scholarship to a private school. We are all very proud of her.
Despite her intellectual gifts she is just like any other little girl, full of fun. She wanted to be portrayed wearing her silly umbrella hat.
The portrait sums up her personality – clever, with a nice sense of humour, just what you would want in a ten-year-old.
She wore her sequinned dress because it would make it more difficult for me. Rotter!
