Oil on canvas, 24" x 24"
Glenn and Claire are brother and sister. The portrait was commissioned, via my agent Nick Hull, by their father, Terry Froud. Terry runs an Electrician business, sometimes sub-contracted to Nick.
Originally the portrait was supposed to be of Terry, but he decided that he was too ugly, so changed the commission to his children.
This is what Terry had to say about his children:
“Glenn lives in Brentwood. He loves all sports, even Spurs. He works as a sparks for me.
Claire lives in Australia until November then comes home. Her main hobby is shopping with my money. She is a fashion buyer. She loves clothes and both are great fun.”
Glenn has a season ticket at Tottenham, so I decided to portray him in the shirt, a photo of which I found in the online Spurs shop. Unfortunate for me, being an avid Arsenal supporter. I closed my eyes when I painted it! It was very painful, signing the painting on that shirt.
