Oil on canvas, 20" x 16"
In January and February 2012, my wife Christine and I visited our family in Cape Town. The family is son Daniel, daughter-in-law Annalie and granddaughter Emily.
While we were there we had a weekend trip to Tulbagh. Tulbagh is situated in a beautiful valley north of Cape Town in the Cape Winelands.
One day we visited a wine farm for lunch. Emily is a live-wire and so had to explore whilst we waited for our meal. Christine accompanied her, and took the photo from which the portrait was extracted.
Emily is playing at being Ouma (grandmother in Afrikaans), wearing her hat, and holding her handbag.
Emily was aged 16-months, at the time.
