033 Paul Pinch
Oil on Canvas, 16” x 20”
December 2012
Paul is my younger brother. He lives in Maryland, USA, with his wife Beverly and his stepson Ashton. The portrait shows Paul outside of the family home in which we grew up.
Shortly after leaving school, Paul joined the RAF, as a storeman. He stayed for 12 years. He then returned home and did some local jobs, such as hospital porter and working in the office of a local car dealership. In 1999 he left for America and married Beverley. He now works for Schindler, the lift people.
The house is at Honeyborough Green, Neyland; a wonderful place to grow up. It has two bedrooms, two living rooms plus kitchen and bathroom, and a garden. In July 2012, my mother sold the house, because in the previous March she came to live with Christine and myself. Just before starting the painting, I took some other photographs of the house. Luckily so, since the following day the new owners erected scaffolding and started to dismantle the roof.
