Oil on Canvas, 16” x 12”
Annalie is my lovely daughter-in-law, married to Daniel (see portrait 015), and mother of Emily (portrait 028) and recent arrival Sophia. They live in Cape Town, South Africa.
The background shows part of their house (complete with the turret folly), and the foothills of Table mountain in the background. Although Table Mountain can actually be seen behind their house, it is not as prominent as depicted.
Annalie is very clever (although she calls it studious). She has degrees in Law, and Financial Sciences. She took some time off to visit London, where she met Daniel, and decided on a career in taxation. She then completed her Masters degree focussing on tax only. She is currently a Tax Manager for the biggest law firm in South Africa. She advises corporations on the tax implications of their proposed transactions.
This portrait was done on canvas board (as opposed to my normal format of stretched canvas) and is rather smaller. Christine visited the family in South Africa during June / July 2013 for Sophia’s christening. The smaller format enabled her to squeeze it into her suitcase.
