Sophia is my grand-daughter, younger sister of Emily (portrait 028), daughter of Daniel (015) and Annalie (038). Sophia’s age was 2 years, 4 months when the portrait was painted.
Daniel and family came for a visit in June 2015. One day I got my camera ready whilst Sophia was playing in the conservatory, and I waited for her to do something cute. Unbidden, she immediately picked up her Dad’s New Scientist magazine, and pretended to read it.
I painted portrait 028 of Emily, intending it to go the family in Cape Town, but Christine is loath to lose it, even though I have offered to paint her another one. This portrait of Sophia matches that one, in size and style of frame, so I suspect that it won’t leave the house, either.
